A mother is upset after she said a southeast Atlanta day care let her child fall asleep on a van for at least two hours.

Erica Brown said Elite Kindercare was supposed to take her son to school, but he didn’t get there until 11 a.m. Tuesday after he was left sleeping on the van, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Brown said her child woke up alone.

“I just started crying because at this point I’m devastated,” she said.

A day care representative initially denied knowing about the claims to Channel 2, but later said they went to Brown’s home to discuss the situation. The day care also alleges Brown’s son fell asleep at the day care, not in the van.

But Brown told Channel 2 that doesn’t add up since the other children made it to school.

“He knows the difference between the van and a day care,” she said. “(They) left him on the van.”

“We are investigating,” Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning spokesman Reg Griffin told The AJC. “That’s really all I can say at this point.”
