A Gwinnett County woman missing since Monday afternoon has found her way home roughly 24 hours after disappearing, police say.

"She was extremely cold and will be evaluated by EMS personnel," said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith late Tuesday.

Chong Petersen, 72, who suffers from mild dementia, wandered away from her son's home in the Rock Springs Road area near Lawrenceville at around 1:30 p.m. She survived a night when temperatures dipped into the low 20s wearing only a parka, police said.
