A missing Cobb County woman who police feared was in danger from her estranged husband was found safe early Thursday and her husband was arrested, police said.
Bridgette Cody Messer had last been seen leaving her job Tuesday afternoon in DeKalb County.
Police found the 47-year-old woman -- and her husband -- at a motel on South Cobb Drive near I-285 about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
William Lee Messer, 49, was arrested by the Cobb police Tactical Team as he was leaving a motel room, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said. Bridgette Messer was located "physically sound" in the motel room, Pierce said.
Police were called to check on Bridgette Messer Wednesday afternoon at her home in an east Cobb neighborhood off Paper Mill Road, Pierce told the AJC.
Officers arriving at the home found evidence of forcible entry and the gold 1999 Ford Explorer belonging to her estranged husband; Bridgette Messer's red 2007 Nissan Altima was missing from the garage, Pierce said.
"The issue is and has been a pending divorce," Pierce said.
Bridgette Messer had obtained a temporary protective order against her husband, and he is now in jail facing charges for aggravated stalking and burglary, Pierce said.
"When there was no acknowledgment from the resident, we began tracking her back to her job," Pierce said. "The TPO was issued as a result of the pending divorce, then this incident happened."
