The Milton City Council has approved an agreement with the Crabapple Merchant Association assigning responsibilities of the co-hosts for this year's Crabapple Fest, the autumn community festival now in its sixth year.
“The impetus of this partnership is the CMA’s need for professional help in regards to logistics, advertising and public safety and the city of Milton’s benefit of community partnership and vendor assistance,” staff said in a report to the council. The festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.
According to the agreement, the city will be responsible for road closings, security, the children’s activity area, sponsorships, publicity, the festival budget and finances, and recruiting vendors other than antique, art and food vendors recruited by the CMA
The Merchant Association will handle those vendors, holding them responsible for providing their own tents; as well as all labor, funding and revenue reporting. The city and merchants will work together to recruit and coordinate volunteers.
