The Milton City Council has approved consultants to work with the city on trail and park planning and green space acquisitions.

The council approved a $353,000 professional services agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. to provide primary planning and public outreach as the Milton Country Club transitions from a privately owned golf course to publicly owned green space and trails; and to advise on best use of existing facilities such as the tennis courts, swimming pool and clubhouse.

Kimley-Horn also will begin the design process for a central Milton trail system, including field run surveys along the corridor from Providence Park to Birmingham Falls Elementary School; public outreach; developing specific trail cross sections, locations and types of amenities, and looking at potential connections with other city and county properties.

Separately, the council approved a $50,000 contract with CH2M Hill Engineers Inc. to work city staff and the Milton Greenspace Advisory Committee on property acquisitions utilizing bond funds.
