LAW ENFORCEMENT
GSP Nighthawk Thomas Kustra has been named MADD-Georgia’s 2011 ‘Statewide Officer of the Year’. The honors were presented last month as the MADD Georgia State Office and its partners at the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety hosted law enforcement officers from across the state for the seventh annual Golden Shield Honors Awards.
Each year Mothers Against Drunk Driving recognizes achievements of officers that keep impaired drivers off Georgia roads and highways, increase awareness of the consequences of DUI, and impact legislation on DUI law.
Other finalists in Trooper Kustra's category included Gwinnett County Police Officer Michael Blute, Henry County Police Officer James Harper, Garden City Police Officer Shawn Myers, Atlanta Police Officer Charles Sendling, and Woodstock Police Officer David Whitley. Information: www.maddga.org.
