Grady Health System has added a second specialty ambulance to transport sick and premature babies to hospitals across the state that can give them the specialized care they need.
The Angel II ambulance includes a type of incubator that monitors every aspect of a baby’s condition while in transit. In 2010, Grady’s first ambulance transported 570 babies across the state, serving 35 hospitals. March of Dimes Georgia, The Atlanta Foundation and the John H. & Wilhelmina D. Harland Charitable Foundation provided funding for the new unit. MISTY WILLIAMS

National drugstore chain Walgreens is offering $10 million-plus worth of free flu shot vouchers to Americans without health insurance or those unable to afford a shot without a voucher. More than 300,000 vouchers are available to eligible U.S. residents. They’re good for one flu shot at any Walgreens pharmacy and are available on a first come, first serve basis. The Georgia Alliance of Latino Elected Officials on Saturday graduated 32 new leaders from its Institute for Leadership.
Graduates participated in one of three sites across the state: Atlanta, North Gwinnett & Refugee Family Services.
The program focuses on developing leaders in the Latino community. Graduates dedicated more than 30 hours to complete eight modules and a group project. This fall class represented participants from 12 different countries.
This is the 11th group of graduates. There are now 403 alumni across the state. ANDRIA SIMMONS
