A north metro mayor is fighting to keep his job after the city council voted to impeach him Monday.

Dawsonville Mayor James Grogan told Channel 2 Action News he did nothing wrong and the council is making a power grab.

The council voted 3-to-1, outing Grogan for allegedly violating city rules concerning credit card use by changing fees for some tax payers.

“You know the people elected me,” Grogan told the news station. “I don’t see how two or three people can choose to take me out of office.”

One of the city council members will act as interim mayor.

Mayor James Grogan is fighting for his job, saying he did nothing wrong after being impeached for things like the misuse of his city credit card and for violating the city charter.
