The mercury dipped deep into the 30s in parts of metro Atlanta early Friday as the coldest air since last spring swept into the state.

Readings at 7 a.m. included 32 in Peachtree City, 34 in Alpharetta and 36 in Dunwoody and Dallas.

The cold snap apparently contributed to the carbon monoxide deaths of two men in a Kennesaw home where the electricity had been cut off and a gas generator was being used to heat the house.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley said temperatures will warm into the low 60s with “sunshine galore” Friday afternoon before falling back into the 30s and low 40s Friday night.

The National Weather Service has posted frost advisories for all of metro Atlanta for Friday morning through 10 a.m. and again from 2 to 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Chandley’s weekend forecast calls for sunny skies, with highs in the mid-60s on Saturday and the low 70s on Sunday and lows in the low 40s.
