Alpharetta police arrested three men for allegedly trying to use counterfeit money to buy food at a Burger King on Thursday.

Brooks Tremaine Cotton, 29; Lavell Maurice Mclurkin, 45, and another man not identified by authorities were arrested after police followed their car into a housing complex and then tracked them down with the help of a K-9 dog.

Authorities said the men left the Burger King but were spotted on Ga. 9 by police. Officers pursed the car into a Sandy Springs housing complex, where the men ran away.

Police used a Sandy Springs K-9 dog, which bit one of the men. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His identity is being withheld.

Cotton, of Decatur, and Mclurkin, of Marietta, were arrested.

Cotton was charged with possession of tools for committing a crime, first degree forgery, obstruction, reckless conduct, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, overtaking a vehicle by passing on the right and speeding.

Mclurkin was charged with obstruction and first degree forgery.

Authorities also searched the car and found stolen social security cards and tools used to break into homes and cars.
