Hundreds of people turned out at the Marietta National Cemetery Monday afternoon for its annual Memorial Day program to honor those who "made the ultimate sacrifice" while serving as a member of the U.S. military.

Lynn Womack of Suwanee listens to Monday's ceremony. Womack attended to honor his nephew, who was killed in Iraq in 2003. He said his nephew was the 40th person killed during the invasion of Iraq.

James Wise, Marietta, a Vietnam veteran, hugs his grandson, Joshua Doblado, 2, during the playing of echo taps at the end of the ceremony. Wise said of the ceremony, "I wouldn't miss it for anything."

Traditionally, Boy Scouts place flags at the graves in Marietta.
