By Larry Hartstein
Jan 28, 2011U.S. Marshals have arrested an Alabama man wanted in a robbery and shooting at a Fayette County BP station.
David Earl Parnell, 41, of Troy, Ala., was picked up Thursday in Huntsville and is awaiting extradition.
Police say that on Jan. 10, Parnell entered the BP at 2950 Ga. 138 in north Fayette County, hung around for 15 minutes, then approached the counter showing a gun. After demanding money, police say, Parnell fired, grazing the clerk in the leg.
The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect ran.
Video surveillance helped police identify Parnell, a convicted felon. He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
