The Marietta Board of Education voted Tuesday to offer a new course at Marietta High School and Middle School for pre-engineering and pre-architecture students.

This after-school elective Research, Design and Project Management course will involve industry professionals from Kennesaw State University, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Atlanta Center for Creative Inquiry.

Along with the teacher, they will assist 16 students in presenting research projects, related to engineering and architecture, to industry professionals.

Students will earn credit for this Career, Technical and Agricultural Education class, a fourth course in the career pathways.

The cost involved is already included in the teacher’s salary and benefits for this two-semester course of around $13,000.
