The city of Marietta will host a reception to honor its prosecuting attorney who will retire after more than 30 years of service.

The reception will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at Marietta Municipal Court at 240 Lemon Street.

Robert Donovan has been the prosecuting attorney for Marietta Municipal Court since 1986 when he was appointed to the position. He is responsible for prosecuting traffic and zoning violations that occur within the city limits.

Donovan was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1980, and worked in the State Court of Cobb County under Clerk of Court Henry Williams. He started his career with the law firm Huff & Moore PC. He left that firm after two years to start his own practice, which focuses on divorce, criminal defense, wills and estate issues.

Donovan is a member of the Georgia and Cobb County bar associations and the Georgia Family Law Section.
