Marietta Mayor Bill Dunaway announced Thursday that he will not run for re-election.

"Marietta does not have term limits, but I have placed a term limit on myself," Dunaway said in a speech to the Kiwanis Club of Marietta. " I have decided that, after this December, I will try to put my family first."

Dunaway, 70, has been mayor since January 2002.

He said he doesn't know what he'll do next, but added, "I can't picture myself fully retired."
