A Marietta man was arrested Sunday on murder charges for allegedly killing a man at a local bar.
Cobb County police said 45-year-old Christopher Brian Stewart, of Marietta, shot and killed Jose Alvarez, 31, Saturday just before midnight at Murph's Lounge, located at 1679 Joyner Ave.
Uniformed police officers responding to a shooting call found Alvarez dead inside the bar.
Cobb police spokesman Dana Pierce said before the shooting Stewart and Alvarez were involved in an altercation at about 11:30 p.m. After the shooting, Stewart left the scene in a 1983 Ford pickup.
The truck was located at a home on Curtis Road in Marietta at 4 a.m. Sunday, said Pierce. After a lengthy Sunday morning SWAT standoff, Stewart was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the Cobb County jail on felony murder and aggravated assault charges.
