Gwinnett County police are investigating the robbery of a college student that occurred last week outside of a Sugar Hill sports bar.
The victim told police he was at Derby Sports Grille at 5885 Cumming Highway around 10:47 p.m. March 2 when he and a friend decided to walk outside. While he was on his cell phone, someone came up behind the victim and hit him on the head with an unknown object. The victim fell to the ground and someone grabbed his wallet, which contained $1,200 he planned to use for his college expenses, according to the police report.
The victim did not see the suspects, but he believed there were at least two of them. The robbers fled in a black 2000 Honda Civic with shiny wheels.
