A man who was hit in the head with a pistol and robbed Wednesday night told police he knew who did it, but then became uncooperative, Atlanta police told the AJC.

At 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot outside an apartment building in the 400 block of Boulevard Avenue, east of downtown. Police determined the victim was not shot, but pistol-whipped in the head.

After telling police he knew who did it, the victim "became uncooperative and refused to give a description of the suspect" or name him, Officer Otis Redmond, a police spokesman, told the AJC.

The victim, robbed of cash and his cellphone, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for his head wound. His condition was not immediately available.
