A 63-year-old man died Sunday morning in a house fire on Kent Drive in southern Monroe County, officials said.
Alexander M. Carmean was in his Kent Drive home when a fire was reported about 12:22 a.m., Monroe County fire spokesman Sgt. Lawson Bittick said.
The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and Carmean was found dead inside, Bittick said.
The fire remains under investigation by both the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Monroe County Fire Department.
Carmean’s body was sent to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta.
