A 19-year-old man who was found responsive in the Anderson Park pool after regular swimming hours Thursday night has died, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The victim was identified as Daquavious Middlebrooks, the television station reported.

It's not clear how Middlebrooks got into pool after it closed. According to the city website, the pool is scheduled to close at 7 p.m.

Atlanta police officers responded about 9:50 p.m. to the pool at 120 Anderson Ave., spokeswoman Lisa Bender told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an emailed statement.

Middlebrooks was swimming with family members and friends when someone contacted emergency workers, Bender said.

Emergency crews from Grady Memorial Hospital and Atlanta Fire Rescue responded and administered CPR, according to Bender. Middlebrooks was taken to Grady for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
