A Cumming man is being charged with homicide in a deadly April boating accident on Lake Lanier.
Steven Brent Parker faces charges of homicide by vessel, serious injury by vessel -- both felonies -- boating under the influence of alcohol and reckless operation of a vessel, according to law enforcement officials with the state Department of Natural Resources.
Parker, 32, crashed his personal watercraft into a 30-foot pontoon boat just before midnight on April 21, DNR officials said.
Stephen Blake Jones, of Duluth, was operating the pontoon boat and was killed in the collision. His passenger, Sharon Ezell was injured, and found clinging to the wreckage later that night, authorities said.
Parker and his passenger, Ashley LeBlanc of Cumming, swam to shore and called for help, and DNR investigators began looking into the accident, putting off filing any charges until their investigation was complete.
Parker could not be reached by phone early Monday morning.
