Authorities say a suspect has been apprehended and charged with murder in the slaying of a local musician, whose body was found with gunshot wounds on a Savannah street in 2011.

Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller says 24-year-old Malcolm Kwame Brown was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.

The Savannah Morning News reports that Brown was captured by officers from the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Savannah-Chatham police detectives and K-9 officers at a building on Avery Street.

Chatham County Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.

Friends of 34-year-old musician Jonathan Brazell said he had played the recorder and performed vocals with The Goliards, a Savannah ensemble that performs medieval music on period instruments.
