The Lilburn city council voted Monday to eliminate some fees and penalties in the Occupational Tax Ordinance. There will no longer be a $25 late filing fee or a $125 late payment penalty applied in May.

An Occupational Tax Certificate is required for any business in the city, regardless of the size of the business or whether it is operated at a residence or commercial location. Business license renewal applications are due Jan. 31, and the fee must be paid by March 31. There will continue to be a 10 percent penalty plus 1.5 percent interest charged to delinquent business owners after March 31.
