The Lawrenceville City Council recently approved a zoning request for about 0.34-acres at 85 Benson St. from office-institutional to general business. The applicant will use the existing structure as a yarn and home goods store.

The property is located on the northeastern corner of Benson Street and East Pike Street. In 2007, the property was rezoned from single-family residential to office- institutional for a hair salon.

Approval comes with conditions including restrictions to prevent the use of tents, canopies, temporary banners, streamers or roping decorated flags, tinsel, or other similar material. Decorative balloons, hot-air balloons, yard and/or bandit signs, sign-twirlers and sign walkers are prohibited. No outdoor storage is allowed and the owner must repaint or repair any graffiti or vandalism that occurs on the property within 72 hours.
