Seven people died in Labor Day weekend traffic accidents in Georgia, half the number killed over the same period last year.
One of the fatalities occurred in metro Atlanta, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Jason Denny, 36, of Canton was killed early Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on Hickory Flat Highway in Cherokee County.
In addition to the seven fatalities, 225 people were injured in 435 crashes investigated by the State Patrol over the 78-hour period that began at 6 p.m. Friday and ended at midnight Monday.
