Update: The kitchen of the Radisson in Marietta scored a perfect score on its health inspection after failing its previous check.

The hotel got the 100/A on April 13, which means it went up 41 points in about a week.

Original (published April 6): The kitchen of the Radisson in Cobb County failed a health inspection this week.

The hotel, 1775 Parkway Place in Marietta, scored a 59/U on its Monday inspection.

Problems ranged from being unable to show documents proving staff had been trained in food safety to “six containers of molded strawberries” in the walk-in cooler, according to the report.

Danny Lyons, the hotel’s assistant general manager, said the hiccups were “operational issues due to (a) new cook being in kitchen. It was not a cleanliness issue.”

Although the inspector did find food debris on many kitchen tools, a lack of paper towels, two cartons of half-and-half five weeks past their expiration date.

The inspector also saw the staff using Formula 409 to sanitize kitchen surfaces that come into contact with food, but 409 isn’t approved for food contact.

The kitchen received a 92/A and a 99/A on its previous inspections.

Lyons said many of the issues identified Monday were corrected while the inspector was still there.

Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
