Kennesaw police officer Scott Luther will run the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the 2011 Special Olympics World Games in Athens, Greece, this summer.

Luther is a long-time volunteer and fundraiser for Georgia’s Special Olympics program and has been involved with the run since he began working with the Kennesaw Police Department ten years ago.

He and other runners will take the torch through 64 cities, towns and communities  in Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt and Greece over 13 days.

The run will end at the Special Olympics opening ceremonies on June 25, where about 7,500 athletes from 180 countries will gather for the games.
