Two juveniles were killed and three more were hurt when a police chase ended in a crash Saturday night in Douglas County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

A speeding driver ran a red light at Ga. 6 and Riverside Parkway and hit a tractor-trailer in the intersection of Riverside Parkway and Thornton Road, officials said.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said a vehicle was driving recklessly on Thornton Road when deputies tried to stop it.

The driver and front seat passenger died in the collision, GSP said. Three juvenile back seat passengers were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in Atlanta with critical injuries.

None of the juveniles’ names have been released pending notification of next of kin.
