Johns Creek is the municipal winner of the Best Practices Award in Amazon’s 2018 City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge. The prize recognizes the city’s development of an Amazon Alexa “skill.”

The winners were announced Wednesday, June 20, at the Amazon Web Services Public Sector Summit in Washington, D.C. Johns Creek officials say theirs is the first city in the world to use open data with Amazon Alexa, allowing the personal assistant to pull information from the city website and DataHub to answer users’ questions.

Johns Creek shared the Best Practices prize with the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority (Washington, D.C.), NHS Business Services Authority (United Kingdom), and Marmion Academy (Aurora, Ill.). Information: https://amzn.to/2MIfHJG
