Atlanta police Thursday were investigating an early morning home invasion in which shots were fired.

No injuries were reported in the 2 a.m. incident at a home on Leslie Avenue in southwest Atlanta.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the homeowner told police that he was awakened by a commotion in his basement.

The homeowner heard someone coming up the stairs from the basement  and retrieved his gun and fired shots.

The intruders fled, dropping several guns and a baseball cap in the back yard, according to Channel 2.
