5 injured, 2 seriously, in sledding accidents
A 7-year-old and a 17-year-old were seriously injured in separate sledding accidents Wednesday.
One accident was reported in Cherokee County, while four happened in Forsyth County, injuring a total of five people, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The 7-year-old Cherokee County boy is in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, the report said. He was hurt in an accident in a neighborhood near Ga. 372 in Ball Ground.
All four Forsyth County incidents were reported between 2:30 and 5 p.m., according to Channel 2.
The 17-year-old was one of a group of teens playing in the snow at Liberty Middle School off Wallace Tatum Road when he hit a fire hydrant while sledding.
He was unconscious when emergency crews arrived and was taken to Northside Forsyth Hospital, where he was said to be in “very, very serious” condition, according to Channel 2.
The three other sledding injuries in Forsyth County are all unrelated to one another or the Wallace Tatum accident, and involved another 17-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 9-year-old, according to reports.
All three were taken to Northside Forsyth as well, but suffered less severe injuries, according to Channel 2.
