Hostage standoff at Roswell apartment

Photos: Police SWAT teams converged on the Aspen Pointe complex near Holcomb Bridge and Ga. 400 in Roswell after a home invasion turned into a hostage situation.

A man is taken into custody Tuesday morning, ending the hostage standoff at Aspen Pointe apartments in Roswell.

Police initially believed three people were being held hostage by two males. Police SWAT teams from Alpharetta and Forsyth County joined other officers at the Aspen Pointe complex.

Tyler Grogan is led away by police after they set off concussion grenades around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, entered the apartment and apprehended him.

Anita Grogan (center), aunt of the man arrested in the hostage standoff, said he was "angry, confused, mad at the world" since his mother was "brutally murdered a couple of years ago."

Roswell police Lt. James McGee said suspects took hostages with them as they burrowed through the walls to get away.

A woman was also taken into custody by police Tuesday.

Police said the suspects had broken through the walls of the initial apartment into another unit trying to get out of the building. SWAT officers walk through the complex.
