A man who stopped to check after hitting a deer with his car Wednesday afternoon was then struck by a car whose driver fled, police say.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. on I-85 South near Buffington Drive in Fulton County, police spokeswoman Cpl. Maureen Smith said.

The driver who was struck was in critical condition, Smith said.

Police are looking for a dark-colored Chevy Malibu or Impala that was likely made between 2008 and 2012.

The car should have front-end damage, especially on the passenger side and windshield, Smith said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, text information to 274637 or visit crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000.
