Hiram High freshman arrested for alleged Facebook threat

A Hiram High School freshman was arrested  for allegedly threatening on Facebook to shoot fellow students at the Paulding County school.

Paulding sheriff's Cpl. Ashley Henson said that about 10 p.m. Tuesday, "a local parent was alerted by their child that a Hiram High School student was threatening to shoot multiple students at school the following day."

That parent called authorities and sheriff's detectives began an investigation.

"Detectives were quickly able to determine who the individual was and made contact with him," Henson said. "After a brief interview, detectives were able to obtain an admission from the individual involved."

Dustin Wade England, 17, was arrested and charged with terroristic threats, a felony, Henson said. England, who Henson said is a freshman at Hiram High, is being held without bond in the Paulding County Detention Center.

"In light of recent school shootings and other types of violence on school campuses worldwide, we take all threats seriously," Paulding Sheriff Gary Gulledge said.
