Henry County officials announced Jan. 24 the hiring of Jonathon “J.P.” Penn as cluster leader for Leisure Services.

He will oversee operations of the Henry County Parks and Recreation, Senior Services, and Extension Services departments. His most recent post was as parks and recreation director for the city of East Point. He has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Morehouse College and has worked in parks and recreation since 2007. Penn is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) as well as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) and has earned certifications from the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Management Development Training Program and the George Harrison Executive Management School. Additionally, he holds a certification from NC State University NRPA Directors School.
