Five county employees were recognized Dec. 4 by the Henry County Board of Commissioners with certificates of appreciation for their acts of heroism.

Deputy County Manager Brad Johnson detailed the incidents that led to the recognitions. Tax Assessors Office supervisor Krista Boyle was recognized for saving the life of a man by performing the Heimlich maneuver on him. Police Officer Alex Maddox and Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Benefield were recognized for pulling a 21-year-old man out of a burning house.

Fleet Services director Jody Swords and supervisor Angelo Cartagena were recognized for rescuing a man who was having a massive heart attack while driving.
