The Henry County Board of Elections & Registration is considering a change involving 16 of its polling places all over the county.

The matter will be discussed at the board’s Feb. 6 regular meeting. An announcement was issued Jan. 9 listing the proposed changes. All of the old polling places are county public schools, and all but one of the new ones are churches. If adopted, the changes will be effective beginning in March for all elections. County officials are continuing in their efforts to see that no schools are being used for voting by the 2020 election cycle if suitable alternate sites can be found.

The affected precincts are Sandy Ridge, Westside, Lowes, Mt. Carmel, Wesley Lakes, McDonough, East Lake, Hickory Flat, Stockbridge East-West, Stagecoach, Pleasant Grove, Shakerag, Ellenwood, Unity Grove, Pates Creek, and Flippen.

A complete list of proposed new sites can be found on the county’s website, henrycounty-ga.org.
