Construction is more than halfway done on the initial phase of Gwinnett Technical College’s expansion into North Fulton, a three-story, 95,000-square-foot structure that will house both classrooms and administrative offices.

Spokeswoman Rebecca Long said the 25-acre campus at 2875 Old Milton Parkway is on target to start holding classes in January. Academic offerings will include computer sciences, health and life sciences, patient care, early childhood education and other disciplines.

It’s the first of three buildings planned on-site. School officials said North Fulton was added to Gwinnett’s mission in 2010 by the Technical College System of Georgia because no tech education provider was serving the area. Officials said the campus could eventually serve up to 10,000 students.
