A Gwinnett County man drowned in the Gulf of Mexico off Panama City Beach, Fla., on Tuesday, officials said.

Vyacheslav Zaytsev, 27, didn’t respond when Panama City Beach Police and Fire Rescue personnel found him lying on the beach at the water’s edge at 11:50 p.m., according to the Panama City News Herald.

Officials performed CPR, but Zaytsev died at the scene.

Family members told the newspaper alcohol consumption combined with high surf conditions contributed to Zaytsev’s death, but an official cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s office.
