A man trying to pick up the belongings of a Gwinnett County Jail inmate ended up being arrested and put behind bars himself after deputies found marijuana in his car.
Jordan David Mendez of Duluth went to the jail to pick up property from another inmate Friday. Gwinnett County Deputies said they could smell marijuana on Mendez and started asking him about it.
Mendez, 19, said he smoked marijuana just before coming to the jail. Deputies said they searched the man’s car and found 14 small baggies of marijuana inside.
Mendez was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana as well as crossing the guard line at the jail while carrying drugs.
He is being held without bond.
