A Gwinnett County highway reopened Thursday night after being shut down for 3½ hours due to a ruptured gas main, authorities said.

Five Forks Trickum Road was closed between Killian Hill and Tom Smith roads because of the incident at a bank construction site, according to Cpl. Jake Smith of the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Lt. Eric Eberly of the Gwinnett Fire Department said authorities received a call about 6:15 p.m. that a 3- to 4-inch gas main had been struck by a construction crew setting up to pour a concrete foundation for a business sign.

The site of the incident was about 200 feet from the Sunrise at Five Forks assisted living center, 3997 Five Forks Trickum Road S.W., Lilburn. No one was in danger, no evacuations were necessary, and nobody was injured in the incident, Eberly said.
