In some of the more interesting housekeeping items found among the minutes from Tuesday’s Gwinnett Board of Commissioners meeting, are two items for the purchase of uniforms and shoes used by various county departments.

Commissioners approved renewal of an annual contract for use by the Community Services, Support Services, Transportation and Water Resources departments with Aramark Uniform and Career Apparel, ASR Command Uniforms, Smyrna Police Distributors and Tactical Gear Supply Co. for $148,400. The contract represents a cost savings of approximately $4,500 over last year.

Commissioners also agreed to renew an annual contract for the purchase of safety shoes in the amount of $117,987 with Vulcan Safety Shoes Service Corp. Documents from the meeting report a recent market analysis shows a 3 percent increase due to a rise in the cost of leather, however the vendor agreed to hold pricing firm for the renewal contract.
