While Gwinnett County police continue to search for a man accused of impersonating an officer, they said Wednesday they have taken another suspect into custody for a similar crime.

Josue Cruz-Ayala, 19, of Lawrenceville was in the Gwinnett County Jail on several charges stemming from what police called a road rage incident on Nov. 13.

Cruz-Ayala, allegedly driving a black Ford Explorer, is accused of pulling up behind a motorist and flashing police-like lights to get the motorist, identified as Jason Milczek of Lilburn, to pull over.

Milczek refused to stop because he was suspicious of the vehicle behind him but eventually ran out of gas, police say. Cruz-Ayala, who police said was tailgating  Milczek for several minutes, pulled up beside him and threw an empty bottle at his car, police said.

Milczek, who was able to get the Explorer’s tag number, had already called for police assistance, but Cruz-Ayala had left the scene when they arrived, according to Gwinnett police.

Police said the incident occurred near Five Forks Trickum Road and Killian Hill Road near Lilburn.

Police said they were able to identify Cruz-Ayala as the driver during a traffic stop eight days later, on Nov. 21, when he was stopped for his window tint and an alleged unsafe lane change.

The incident earlier this month is not connected to another recent incident involving a suspected police impersonator who the victim said humiliated her during a stop, police said.

Brandy Evans said she was traveling down Ga. Highway 141 on Nov. 5 when a dark blue Ford Crown Victoria pulled up behind her and flashed blue lights.

Evans told Channel 2 Action News the a man got out of the car and said, "Good evening, my name is Officer You Don't Need To Know, can I see your driver's license?"

Since she didn’t have her license with her, Evans said the “officer” told her he wouldn’t give her a ticket if she begged him not to. She begged and then called Gwinnett police afterward to file a complaint.

Police said Wednesday they were still looking for the fake officer.
