A Gwinnett County cop went below and beyond Saturday to rescue a group of fluffy ducklings from a sewer drain.

Around 7 p.m., someone alerted authorities that a mother duck was lingering around the drain at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road behind Schlotzsky's Deli "because her babies fell in." Sgt. Jake Smith sprung into action to save them.

Smith's name may be familiar to regular news consumers he was a spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department for several years.
