May 23, 2016A Gwinnett County cop went below and beyond Saturday to rescue a group of fluffy ducklings from a sewer drain.
Around 7 p.m., someone alerted authorities that a mother duck was lingering around the drain at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road — behind Schlotzsky's Deli — "because her babies fell in." Sgt. Jake Smith sprung into action to save them.
Smith's name may be familiar to regular news consumers — he was a spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department for several years.
