A Gwinnett County fast food restaurant failed its recent health inspection, with officials noting hamburger buns stored on top of a trash can, an employee not washing her hands and raw food stored improperly.

The Checker's location at 5260 Jimmy Carter Blvd. near Norcross received a 65/U on its Tuesday morning evaluation.

According to the report, inspectors watched as an employee washed dishes "and then handled clean food containers without washing her hands." There were also no "hand drying provisions" and pieces of meat in one dish sink, the report said.

"Observed raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food: raw fish & raw chicken above fries, onion tanglers, cheese, etc. in the upright freezer," the inspector noted. Food containers were also stacked wet, according to the report.

A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Tuesday's evaluation.
