Graves Park to get 1,900 new trees

Nov 18, 2010

Graves Park near Norcross will get more than 1,900 new trees under a contract approved by the County Commission Tuesday.

The commission awarded a contract of nearly $165,000 to Tri Scapes Inc. to plant about 3 acres with hardwood trees like maple, hickory and oak, plus other species like sourwood, redbud and sassafras. The 70-acre park is between Graves Road and the DeKalb County line south of Interstate 85.

County officials say the additional trees will reduce operating costs like mowing and irrigation.
