A DeKalb County grand jury on Tuesday indicted a man charged with fatally shooting a stranded driver at the Starlight Drive-In Theater.

Quentric Shaymond Williams, prosecutors say, shot and killed Mitt Lenix on the night of May 15, as Lenix attempted to ask for help jump-starting his car.

Williams, 32, has been charged with murder, two counts of felony murder -- or committing a felony that results in someone's death -- aggravated assault, two counts each of aggravated assault on a peace officer and fleeing to elude police, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say in his quest for help, Lenix unwittingly interrupted Williams and his girlfriend in an intimate moment inside their truck.

Williams fired once, killing Lenix, then sped away from the south DeKalb County movie theater, allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase and throwing nearly $10,000 in cash out the window of the rented pick-up truck before wrecking it in Gwinnett County, police said. He also gave his girlfriend another large sum of cash -- $9,880 -- during the chase, police said.

Another man, Clinton Hightower, was killed as he walked across Memorial Drive and was struck by DeKalb Police Officer Jason Cooper as Cooper rushed to join the chase.

After the wreck, Williams abandoned the truck and a 9 mm handgun and fled on foot, ditching a second gun in the yard of a home as he ran past, police said.

Police arrested him the next day at a hotel near Duluth, where they found a third handgun and a large amount of cash and drugs. Williams' girlfriend was not charged.

It is unclear how Williams obtained the cash or why he threw it out the window during the chase, police say.

Williams has served two state prison terms for drug convictions, according to prison records.

He remains in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
