Al Gore preaches environmentalism

Al Gore, the former vice president and Democratic nominee for president in 2000, has won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to raise awareness about climate change, often referred to as global warming. Gore also won an Academy Award (the Oscar) for the documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, which focused on the talks he gives about environmental problems.

Former Vice President Al Gore spoke to Baptists at a conference in Atlanta on Thursday.

The popular former vice president said it is also the Christians' responsibility to preserve Earth.

Former Vice President Al Gore scored an environmental slam dunk with his 2006 documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," which focused on global warming.

He spoke of being on Air Force 1 for 8 years and now having to take his shoes off at the airport.

Former President Jimmy Carter was among the audience, enjoying Gore's humorous, yet serious message on the pollution.

As a gift, the Baptists gave the Nobel Peace prize winner a green Bible.
