March 2, 2012

One of the newborn golden lion tamarins at Zoo Atlanta died on Wednesday after an accidental fall. The four-day-old primate was one of two surviving infants born to mother Robin and father Theo on Feb. 25. A third baby died at birth. Infant mortality is not unusual for baby tamarins, which weigh about 2 ounces when born. The remaining newbie appears to be thriving with its parents.
