A 27-year-old northwest Georgia man was sentenced to six years in federal prison Thursday for possessing child pornography.
Chadwick Keith Brannon, of LaFayette, must also register as a sex offender once he is released from prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Brannon's prison sentence will be followed by 20 years of supervised released.
Brannon was arrested in Oct. 2008 in Alabama for passing suspected counterfeit money, according to U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates. Two months later, Secret Service agents searched Brannon's computer for evidence of the counterfeit operation. During that investigation, officers found suspected child pornography.
“There were disturbing videos of child pornography found on this defendant’s computer, and there was testimony at trial of two victims whom he sexually molested for several years, beginning when they were only seven years old," Yates said in a statement.
Brannon was convicted on July 22 following a four-day trial.
